The Suffering Servant

In my small group we are going through the Apostles Creed line by line.  I'd encourage everyone to do this at some point.   This week's study was over "Suffered under Pontius Pilate".   Part of our study carried us to Isaiah 52-53 "The Suffering Servant".

This week leading up to Easter, I'd like to encourage everyone to take some time and read through this passage.  The central and essential dimensions of the work of Christ for our salvation seems to be the Cross and the empty grave.   I think it is often overlooked the suffering that Christ took on when he took on our iniquities.

This was all a part of the plan of the Father, the Son carrying out his Father's will.  Fully Human, Fully God.  "Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief." Is. 53:10.  He bore the wrath of God for our Sin.  For yours and for mine.

When Christ bore our iniquities, he satisfied God's wrath against sin.  Satisfied God's judgment.  Satisfied God's holiness.

It is finished.

Christ did so much more for you, than die on the Cross.   He bore the Curse. "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree." Deut. 21:22-23, Gal.3:13

Jesus does love you.
